everything old is new again

Posted in general, self-examination by dylan

first of all, hello to everyone who has been waiting for ever for me to update. maybe you thought i was dead. i’m not.

second of all, the update, in all-new technologically advanced point form!

  • spent most of the summer food poisoned (food poisoning from rice… terrible….)
  • began the process of church planting, which primarily involves making sure that YOU are a good church planter, have a good marriage, won’t make people drink the kool-aid, etc
  • had to take a stand and say that while the local church is broken in many ways, it is important and nessessary (in response to an argument that one-shot events throughout the year are more important than a healthy community of faith)
  • started sending my 3 1/2 year old twin daughters to playschool one day a week (at first tears, now they cry when we come to take them home)

but a few days ago i realized that while i haven’t updated here in MONTHS, i have lying around my office (both hard copy and on my desktop) tonnes of material to publish. so why haven’t i blogged? then i started remembering how great it was to put out a zine… the tactile pleasure of the glue and stapler, the cut-and-paste ecstasy… is that why i’m so terrible at the journal thing? i need to zine instead? (did you like how i verbed ‘zine’? you’re welcome.)

anyway, i need to think about it. rest assured that if i get something out, you’ll know.

i finally took the plunge and made my blog a bit… less… black. let me know what you think.

regardless, the process of moving over to wordpress from blogger has made me an XML ninja.

what do i believe?

Posted in theology, self-examination by dylan

i believe in God the father, creator of heaven and earth.
i believe in Jesus Christ, his son, our lord and redeemer.
i believe in the Holy Spirit, who empowers and teaches us.
i believe that all exist as one God in three persons, eternally.
i believe in the forgiveness of sin.
i believe in the Church, even when the church fails, because the Church are the followers of Christ, wherever they are gathered.
i believe in the crucifixion, ascension, and return of Jesus Christ.
i believe in life everlasting.

i believe all these things. i would go to the wall for these things. but above all else…

“I believe in God like I believe in the sun, not because I can see it, but because of it all things are seen.”
~CS Lewis
